Riverdale High School students swept first place honors at the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts Art Contest for the second year in a row.
Kourtney Aultman won a $6,000 scholarship by placing first in the Senior Division. In the Junior Division, Nathan Vogel earned $1,250 cash for his first place finish. They were not the only Riverdale students honored, however. Chelsea Lee won a $5,000 scholarship by finishing third in the Senior Division. Hope Gann won a $750 cash prize for placing third in the Junior Division.
“Riverdale’s Art Program continues its reign as one of the top programs in the state of Louisiana,” said Riverdale High Principal Danielle Yunusah. ” It is a true testament to the dedication and culture of high expectations that permeates the halls of this great school. Ms. Robinson, and our students, proved once again that Riverdale and JPPSS have the most talented students in the state.”
This year’s 16 finalists were honored at the 2016 Scholarship Awards Luncheon at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel on April 16.
The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts provided $45,000 in college scholarships and awards to students through this annual contest. Over 600 entries were submitted from across the state. This year’s theme was Carnival in Louisiana.
