JP Schools LEAP 2025 Scores Show Slight Gains

The Louisiana Department of Education released the 2019 Louisiana Educational Assessment Program, or LEAP 2025, assessment results. Scores in Jefferson Parish Schools showed growth in numerous areas. Overall, students in grades 3-12 scoring Mastery Plus in JP Schools improved from 31% in 2018 to 32% in 2019.

Among the results:

  • 8th Grade Math Basic Plus increased from 38% in 2018 to 39% in 2019
  • 8th Grade ELA Basic Plus increased from 60% to 61%
  • 8th Grade Math Mastery Plus remained at 15%
  • 8th Grade ELA Mastery Plus increased from 35% to 38%
  • 3rd Grade Math Basic Plus remained at 70%
  • 3rd Grade ELA Basic Plus increased from 64% to 65%
  • 3rd Grade Math Mastery Plus increased from 42% to 43%
  • 3rd Grade ELA Mastery Plus remained at 43%

“We are pleased that more students mastered content this year than in previous years,” said JP Schools Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley. “We believe we will continue to see increases in the years ahead as our system implements our strategic plan focusing on student outcomes and opportunities.”

JP Schools will begin distributing individual student results to families in August.
