
The work Jefferson Parish Schools does to tell the stories of its students, teachers, and schools is being recognized on the national level. The JP Schools Strategy Department received four awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
JP Schools was recognized with a Golden Achievement Award for the work building stakeholder support to create a strategic plan. Led by Chief Strategy Officer Gabrielle Misfeldt, this campaign encompassed the strategic communications throughout the past year that started with the superintendent’s 100-day entry plan and concluded with the unveiling and board approval of 2024: The Future Our Kids Deserve. The Golden Achievement Award recognizes exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing, and engagement.
JP Schools also won three of NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Awards. The video series spotlighting the schools in the Transformation Network won an award of merit for Video Produced In-House (led by Digital Engagement Specialist Marlo Lacen). The #50kReasons social media campaign spotlighting JP Schools students won an award of merit for Social Media (led by Director of Communications Ted Beasley). The guest column JP Schools Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley wrote in The New Orleans Advocate earned an honorable mention for Excellence in Writing.
Telling stories about our students, educators, schools, and district in a meaningful, fun, and relevant way is an action step in the district’s strategic plan, 2024: The Future Our Kids Deserve.

Karen Richmond is the Print Shop Director, Patrick Giles is the Graphics & Desktop Publishing Coordinator, Bennett Logan is the Production Artist & Finisher, and Leon McGee is the Pressman. Carolyn Van Norman is the Director of Family & Community Partnerships.
