The Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) has announced Open House dates for its Language Immersion Programs.
Representatives from the district’s magnet and academic programs and the schools at which they are offered will be in attendance.
The meetings will take place on the following dates:
- Wednesday, March 9 | 6 p.m.
- Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary (950 Behrman Highway in Terrytown)
- Thursday, March 10 | 5 p.m.
- Frederick Douglass Elementary (1400 Huey P. Long Avenue in Marrero)
- Thursday, March 17 | 6 p.m.
- J.C. Ellis Elementary (801 Brockenbraugh Court in Metairie)
The meetings for all three locations will last one hour.
French & Spanish Language Immersion
The French and Spanish immersion programs develop student proficiency in a second language while providing a foundation in fundamentals of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, health, physical education and cultural arts programs. The program fosters an understanding of and an appreciation for Louisiana’s cultures and those of other areas and countries.
The programs and schools are as follows:
- Boudreaux Elementary (Spanish)
- Douglass Elementary (French)
- Ellis Elementary (French and Spanish)
