Jefferson Parish Schools unveiled a new strategic plan that will set a progressive course for the largest public school system in Louisiana, its 50,000 students, and its 7,000 employees. Over a dozen of those 50,000 students helped JP Schools Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley present the plan during an unveiling at Grace King High.

“It’s our job to give our students the education they deserve to succeed in life and make our world a better place,” said Dr. Brumley. “This strategic plan is the map for how we’re going to get there. It’s bold, ambitious, and will require us to commit to our children in new ways. It will be a challenging push, but our kids, our families, and our community deserve nothing less.

The strategic plan is called 2024: The Future Our Kids Deserve. It outlines the district’s values, mission, capstones, goals, priorities, and plans for action. Among the goals set for 2024 are to make JP Schools an A-rated district, improve its graduation rate to 90%, and double the amount of Career and Technical Education credentials currently being earned by graduates.

2024 has been nearly a year in the making. It’s the product of hundreds of community meetings, in-depth analysis of district data, best practices in education, as well as visits to dozens of schools and hundreds of classrooms.

The unveiling was attended by state and local dignitaries, as well as leaders from schools, the district, and Jefferson Parish. Grace King High student Haleigh Lozano read a children’s storybook version of the plan to second graders from Hearst Elementary. Grace King High students then took turns presenting various aspects of the plan.

2024:The Future Our Kids Deserve will now go before the Jefferson Parish School Board for approval at its February 12 meeting.

Jefferson Parish Schools is the largest and most diverse public school system in Louisiana and the 98th largest in the nation. Our system of 85 schools serve around 50,000 students on both sides of the Mississippi River. With approximately 7,000 employees, JP Schools is one of the largest employers in Jefferson Parish. Our district exists to provide the education our students deserve to succeed in life and make our world a better place.
