Dr. Brumley passed the 50-day mark this week in his 100-day plan. This week included a number of engaging events, including a lunch with 10 JPPSS teachers. Dr. Brumley randomly selected 10 educators to join him for a teacher appreciation lunch at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Building positive relationships with employees is part of the strategies outlined in his plan, Love to Learn; Learn to Lead: A 100-Day Investment for a Stronger JPPSS.
RECENT UPDATES
Here is what Dr. Brumley was up to this week as he works towards completing his plan and helping build a strong foundation for the future of our students.
- Took 10 randomly selected JPPSS teachers to lunch for Teacher Appreciation Week
- Attended graduation ceremonies for Haynes Academy, Thomas Jefferson High, Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy, East Jefferson High, and Grace King High
- Held Discovery Days at Adams Middle and Strehle Elementary. Discovery Days include a coffee chat at a nearby establishment in the morning, a one-on-one conversation with that district’s board member, a learning walk around the school, a one-on-one conversation with the principal, lunch with students, a faculty meeting, and a community town hall that evening
- Held a Twitter chat for JPPSS students and recent graduates to share their viewpoints on their schools and the district
- Attended the Jefferson Dollars for Scholars Enrichment Camp Awards Ceremony
- Attended the JPPSS valedictorian-salutatorian celebration dinner
- Addressed the Republican Women’s Club of Jefferson
- Appeared on the WWL-TV Eyewitness Morning News to update the public on the progress of his 100-day plan and share the positive stories taking place in JPPSS
- Conducted an interview with New Orleans CityBusiness about the upcoming school year
- Met with leaders from Oschner and the Jefferson Federation of Teachers
