Jefferson Parish Public School System students will now attend a full day of school on Wednesday, January 24 in an effort to make up some of the time missed due to inclement weather.
January 24 was an early release day, which is when students are dismissed two and a half hours early. The Jefferson Parish School Board voted to change that day to a full school day for all schools and all organizational levels in order to recover missed instructional minutes. The board made this decision during its meeting on January 18.
JPPSS officials will recommend additional adjustments to the 2017-18 calendar at the February board meeting. That meeting is currently scheduled for February 7 at 6 p.m. at the JPPSS Administration Building at 501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey.
