The Jefferson Parish Public School System is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank to serve families impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
“We saw such devastation in both Louisiana and Texas,” said JPPSS Superintendent Isaac G. Joseph. “I know so many people feel compelled to help. We were in their situation 12 years ago and many, including our neighbors in Louisiana and Texas, came to our aid.”
Most JPPSS schools and district offices will accept the following donations from September 7-14.
- Pop-top canned meat – tuna and chicken
- Granola/cereal bars
- Peanut butter
- Wipes (disinfectant and baby)
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Clothing, books, toys, etc… cannot be accepted during this drive. A number of JPPSS schools have organized their own drive and will not be participating in the district-wide effort. Please contact your school prior to bringing supplies to confirm participation, drop-off dates/times, and other specific instructions.
In addition to most school campuses, items will also be accepted at the JPPSS Administration Building at 501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey, the Paul Emenes Building at 822 S. Clearview Parkway in Harahan, and the JPPSS Warehouse at 4600 River Road in Marrero.
